Agriculture Secretary Russell Redding
toured Juniata County Reinford dairy farm to highlight more than $1.6
million invested by the Wolf Administration in on-farm business plans
and future generations of Pennsylvania farmers through the Pennsylvania Farm Bill’s Farm Vitality Grant Program.
The Farm Vitality Program aims to enhance the long-term economic
vitality of Pennsylvania farms by funding transition and business
planning services.

in Somerset County, Secretary Redding had the pleasure of touring Baer
Bros. Maple Camp, seeing first-hand how technology is transforming
agriculture to make maple syrup production an efficient process.

During
National Ag Day, Secretary Redding had the chance to tour the East
Juniata Ag Program thanks to the chapter’s FFA members.

Following
his visit with East Juniata FFA, Secretary Redding visited Red Sunset
Farm, a Juniata County dairy farm, milking 60 head of registered
Holsteins. David Graybill is passionate about conservation efforts and
utilizes many sustainable practices on the operation.

| Agriculture Department Adds Eleven Counties To Spotted Lanternfly Quarantine
As the invasive spotted lanternfly's
spring hatch approaches, Agriculture Secretary Russell Redding announced
that the department has added 11 counties to Pennsylvania's quarantine
zone. Adams, Armstrong, Bedford, Centre, Fulton, Indiana, Lycoming,
Mercer, Snyder, Union, and Washington counties bring the total to 45
Pennsylvania counties quarantined.

| Agriculture Secretary Joins Industry Leaders To Discuss Mental Health Services Available For Pennsylvania Farmers
Secretary Redding met with agriculture and healthcare industry leaders for a roundtable discussion on the new AgriStress HelpLine and other state services and resources available to Pennsylvania farm families seeking mental health support.
The AgriStress HelpLine for
Pennsylvania is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Farmers can
call 833-897-AGRI (2474) to speak to a healthcare professional.

professionals who strive to reduce health disparities found among the
agricultural community.
In addition to the AgriStress
Helpline, AgriSafe also provides various services aimed to protect the
people who help feed the world.

Mini Grants Available for Youth Pursuing Agricultural Small Business
This spring, AgChoice will award five $2,500 jumpstart mini grants to
youth who launched a farming business in the last two years or plan to
start one in the next two years.
Grant funds must be used for agriculture purposes to start a farm
business within two years of receiving the grant. Fund use examples
include operating expenses, equipment, livestock or other startup costs.
Applicants must be ages 16 to 21 as of January 1, 2022 and reside
within AgChoice Farm Credit’s territory.

workshop in 5 locations across PA for our Women in Agriculture:
Effective Communication Skills & Strategies to Reduce Stress on the
Farm.
Participants will receive materials and skills to assist in communicating with
the difficult personalities in their lives. Stress reducing methods will be also be provided to participants.

| Local Food Purchasing Program with Feeding Pennsylvania: Producer Information Session
Wednesday, April 13, 2022, (12:00 PM - 1:00 PM ET), via Zoom
Feeding Pennsylvania,
a statewide network of food banks, will soon launch new opportunities
for interested Pennsylvania producers and processors to sell to
Pennsylvania's food bank system. During the Local Food Purchasing
Program with Feeding Pennsylvania: Producer Information Session,
representatives from Feeding Pennsylvania and the Central Pennsylvania
Food Bank will describe participation logistics, compensation, and how
the program can support the food waste reduction and wholesale marketing
efforts of Pennsylvania growers at a variety of scales.

Fiber and Textile Supply Chain Survey
All Together Now, PA and Keystone Development Center
are working to build a local fiber and textile supply chain in the
state of Pennsylvania. Their goal is to map out the Commonwealth’s
current supply chain, including farmers, fiber mills, knitters, weavers,
cut and sew facilities, designers etc. with the hope they can connect
sellers to buyers and support the local fashion system.
